What is IT Staff Augmentation?

IT Staff Augmentation (also called "Alocação de Profissionais" in Brazil) is a model where Brazilian engineers are formally employed by Pilar TI under CLT regime (the Brazilian equivalent of full-time employment with all labor protections) and dedicated full-time to a client's operation.

Unlike bodyshop (project-based, time-bounded), staff augmentation is long-term integration: the engineer becomes part of the client's team, attends standups, participates in product decisions, accumulates institutional knowledge.

This model is ideal for global enterprises that need dedicated Brazilian IT talent for ongoing work — extending an in-house team — but want to avoid the complexity of hiring directly in Brazil (Brazilian labor laws are notoriously complex, with multi-month termination procedures and many statutory benefits).

What makes Pilar TI different from typical Brazilian IT vendors.

CLT not freelancers

Engineers employed by Pilar TI, not freelancers or PJ contractors. Lower turnover, better engagement, full legal protection.

English-fluent leads

Senior engineers and technical leads communicate fluently in English. Junior staff supported via written communication.

Brazilian time zone advantage

GMT-3 — only 1-2 hours from US Eastern. Real-time collaboration unlike India or Eastern Europe.

Cost-effective vs hiring

30-50% less than direct hiring after considering all Brazilian employment costs (encargos, benefits, infrastructure, HR overhead).

How is staff augmentation different from staff outsourcing?
Staff augmentation places dedicated engineers as extensions of your team — integrated, long-term, technically managed by you. Outsourcing transfers entire functions (e.g., help desk) with SLA, technically managed by Pilar TI. Staff aug = capacity. Outsourcing = service.
How quickly can I get an engineer onboard?
Typical timeline: 12-25 business days from signed SOW to engineer starting. Senior or rare profiles may take 30 days. Standard profiles (mid-level developers, support analysts): 7-15 days. We pre-validate from our talent pool.
Can I interview candidates before allocation?
Yes. Standard process: we screen and present 2-3 candidates per role, you interview them in English, you select. Validation typically takes 5-10 business days. We don't allocate without your approval.
What roles can you provide?
Full-stack developers (Java, .NET, Python, JS), DevOps/SRE, cloud architects (AWS, Azure, GCP), data engineers, mobile (iOS, Android), QA, security analysts, network engineers, IT project managers. Mid-level to senior. Junior available with longer ramp-up.
How is pricing structured?
Monthly fee per engineer, in USD or BRL. Range: USD 4,000-9,000/month for mid-level, USD 7,000-13,000 for senior, USD 12,000-18,000 for principal/architect. Includes employment costs, benefits, management overhead, and Pilar TI margin.
